DECO SOCIAL HOUSE
Design Overview
Tallahassee is defined by its diverging populations, consisting of business professionals, government officials, and the many students of it’s local universities. Currently, there is an excess of nightlife for the young student population while the business district area of Tallahassee lacks an age appropriate space for upscale socialization. Due to this, older and younger generations are separated, both geographically and socially.
DECO will be a place to eat, drink, indulge, lounge and be entertained. By introducing a modern take on the classical style of Art Deco, the space merges two contrasting eras of design promoting the connecting of two generations. The design of DECO Social House is informed by the concept of bridging the gap fostering intergenerational socialization within the community and redefining the rich history of Tallahassee, FL.

This entrance is completed with rich finishes and shapely forms to hint toward the Art Deco geometric styles of the 1920's. The fireplace acts as a speakeasy "hidden" entrance into The Bridge (pictured below).
The Bridge is centrally located in the space with pathways that lead the user into this swanky hangout. Indirect, task, ambient and up-lighting creates an intimate and comfortable atmosphere.
The Social is an area inside the Bridge for users to socialize. Through sociopetal furniture arrangements and dim lighting, users feel more confident and inclined to interact.
The Press offers users an alternative to drinking or a place of relief from the more bustling areas of DECO. Users can order cafe food and beverages after dinner, before viewing art in the gallery, use it as a quiet place to converse or as a break from a night on the town.
The Gallery host local artist of all ages for auctions and shows. This promotes community wellness and a level of sophistication and culture into this form of nightlife.
